Past Projects

San Diego Police Headquarters

BriceHouse Starboard developed the San Diego Police Headquarters in conjunction with design firm Delawie/Bretton/Wilkes Associates and the MH Golden Company.

The seven-story building, together with the Police Department’s Heavy Vehicle Maintenance Facility, represented the largest municipally financed project in the history of the City of San Diego at that time (1986). Additionally, the project was the first development in the United States to be built in public/private partnership utilizing tax-exempt Certificates of Participation, which were rated “AAA” by Standard & Poor’s.

Furthermore, the historic project was completed five months ahead of schedule and under budget.

Project Circumstances

The project was developed on a fast-track basis as requested by the City of San Diego. The expedited schedule included all tenant improvements and the design and programming of all furniture, fixtures, and equipment.

BriceHouse Starboard analyzed the current and anticipated needs of each division and then developed appropriate programs and facilities. The 165,000 square foot development houses the Police Administration, Technical Center, and Central Area Substation and includes separate entrances that preserve the identity of each.
